Wat is een Jaeger stekkerdoos?
The Jaeger plug is a 13-polige stekker which is not interchangeable with other plugs. The Jaeger socket is of German origin. The Jaeger plug is becoming the new 'standard' plug for vehicles (DIN standard). Connecting the plug is very simple. Turn the housing of the plug a quarter turn and the plug is firmly in place. New vehicles are almost all equipped with a 13-pole Jaeger plug. The Jaeger plug is the most common plug. The 13-pole Jaeger plug is used, for example, to connect a trailer or caravan to a vehicle. The lighting on the trailer or caravan is activated by means of the 13-pole plug.
The Jaeger plug also offers the possibility of connecting additional lighting functions. The Jaeger plug has a bayonet connection. A bayonet connection ensures that the plug is more tightly fitted. If you wish to connect a 13-pole Jaeger plug to a 7-pole plug, you will have to use a verloopadapter. Make sure to remove the adapter when not in use. Otherwise moisture may get in.
The difference with the 7-pole socket
Of course, there are differences between the two sockets. A 7-pole socket is intended for the basic lighting of the trailer. A 13-pole multiple socket ensures that the trailer has more light. With basic lighting we mean for example richtingaanwijzers and brake lights. There is also the option of using LED lighting as reverse light connect.

Connecting a Jaeger socket should take care of the following:
- Connect the wiring in accordance with the picture below and connect the constant current.
- The constant current connections and the corresponding earth must be connected with 2.5 mm² wire.
- Do not make any changes to the electrical system in your vehicle.
- In the case of vehicles with computer-controlled power take-off, this must then be adjusted for the use of, for example, a contemporary caravan.
