What is an LED chip?

If you work a lot with LED lighting, you have probably heard the term LED chips before. LED chips are electronic components that emit light directly. In short, an LED chip is a small LED panel. The LEDs are small and together they create a bright, intense light lichtbeeld. One of the properties of a diode is that it conducts current on the one hand and blocks steam on the other. A diode functions as an electronic check valve. The conductive direction is called the forward direction and the reverse direction the reverse direction. Also in the forward direction of a diode, current only flows when the voltage across the diode reaches a certain value.

Colour

When the term RGBW or RGBWW is used, an additional LED chip is added to the RGB chip. The chip is then warm white or koud wit. If the chip is cool white, the W (white) is added to RGB. The term RGBWW therefore stands for RGB plus WW (warm white). An extra chip with a warm white colour is then added to the RGB chip. Are you interested in how the colour temperature works? COB LED en SMD LED

COB is also known as 'Chip on Board', a technique in which the LED chips are placed close to each other. This allows for a neat display of the various LED light points. SMD is the abbreviation for Surface Mounted Device. The SMD has a high light output and is widely used. The LEDs are soldered on a PCB. SMD are becoming more common because the LED chips are much smaller.
